Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

One who cultivates the heart’s natural love obtains the guidance of a Guru, and starts his Sadana (Path of spiritual discipline). He becomes a pravartaka, an initiate.

Man, when endowed with the heavenly gift of pure love, naturally becomes disposed to avoid the company of what is Asath and to keep the company of what has been described as Sath.”

    – The Revelation- Sutra6. The Holy Science,

    – Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri (1855-1936 – Disciple of Sri Lahari Mahasaya and Guruji of Sri Yogananda Paramahansa)

By affectionately keeping the company Sath he may be fortunate enough to please one whom may kindly stand to him as his SathGuru or Spiritual Preceptor. By keeping his preceptor’s God-like company there grows an inclination, Pravritti, in the disciple’s heart to save himself from the creation of darkness, Maya, and he becomes Pravartaka, an initiate in the practices of Yama and Niryama, the ascetic forbearances and observances necessary to obtain salvation.

Self-Realization:

God makes the law of karma and if God cannot set aside the law, then the law is greater than God. This cannot be. Generally God does not interfere. He allows the karma to work out. But He may in special case go beyond His law and by His grace free the soul from the bondage of karma. God’s grace comes without deserving it. We cannot get grace by virtue of our so-called merit. Worst sinners have received grace and become pure and glories.

Without initiation, all actions and rituals are fruitless. Without initiation, spiritual perfection cannot be attained. The Guru transmits His own innerself, His Divine Shakthi (Universal Energy or Cosmic Energy or Kundalini Shakthi), and His message directly into the disciple. Only a Guru (Sathpurushas or SathGuru) who has been empowered by the blessings of the Supreme Power can awaken the Kundalini permanently.

How to meditate? – Awakening of the Spiritual Vision by Swamigal

E.S. Ramaswamy Sastriar was a Sub-Magistrate in Thiruvannamalai. He had great devotion to Swamiji. As per his usual routine, one day he started his meditation at 4 a.m. But he was finding it very difficult to control his mind. His mind was swinging from one end to another and he could not focus on spirituality.

Our Swamiji came to know this by His Power of Gnana Drishti, He came to Magistrate’s house and knocked at his door. Sastriar opened the door and was overjoyed. To a query from Swamiji as to what he was doing, he prostrated and told Swamiji that he was trying to mediate but it was not successful.

On hearing this, Swamiji asked him to open his mouth and put two of His fingers beneath the tongue and pressed them down. That very instant, Sastriar forgot himself and was immersed in the joy of Self-illumination and swooned! He recovered after half an hour. Swamiji then advised him and departed from there.

After the incident, Sastriar’s nature underwent a radical change. He became a man of peace. He used to recite the following slokas recalling the opening of this Spiritual Vision by Swamiji:

I bow to Lord Sesha, and offer Him my Salutations – The Supreme Mahaan, who Blessed me with the experience of the Para-Brahmman (The Divine Consciousness), in my physical frame, by His Gracious touch with His two fingertips in my mouth!

I am blessed! I have reaped the fruits of my good deeds! – As I have been been Graced by my Supreme Guru, who is the embodiment of Benevolence and Compassion, to whom I bow, and offer my Salutations!

I bow to Lord Seshadri, who has opened my eyes to True Knowledge, [with (the collyrium (eye-salve) of Knowledge], that had been blinded by the darkness of ignorance!

To Him I offer my Salutations!

Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

People want a Sathpurusha who will behave like their servant and give them whatever they desire at once. A Sathpurusha, i.e. the man in the state of Sath, is an infinite storehouse of the unending Infinite Bliss that is the Siddhanta.

It is the incarnation that descended from Para Brahma (the Lord of the Universe or the creator in the form of Sathpurushas mentioned here, their original state), at whose hands many a miracle has happened.

With His Kripa, a Sathpurusha not only gives world happiness, but also gives them the Infinite Bliss. But then to receive either of them or both of them, one has to be properly qualified. Para Brahma (Lord of universe) is ever lasting, complete, without beginning or end. It is one, indivisible being.

    – Sutra 1. The Holy Science,
by Sri Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj

(In Tamil Saint Manickavasagar says,”Adhiyum Anthamum illatha Arunachala Easane” i.e. Lord Arunachala of Thiruvannamalai)

The Eternal Father, God, is the only Real Substance, Sath, and is all in all in the universe and therefore not comprehensive by man of this material world, unless he becomes divine by lifting his Self above this creation of Darkness or Maya.

See Hebrews (Bible) 11.1 and John (Bible) 8:28:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Then Jesus said unto them, when ye have lifted up the son of man, then shall ye know that I am He.”

Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

Sathpurushas are above religion and caste.

Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss are the three longings (of the human heart).

Ananda, (bliss) is the contentment of heart attained by the ways and means suggested by the Saviour, the Sathpurusha.

Chith, the true consciousness, brings about the complete destruction of all troubles and the rise of all virtues.

Sath, existence, is attained by realization of the permanency of the soul.

Sath – Chith – AnandaSatchidananda

These three qualities constitute the real nature of a man. All desires being fulfilled, and all miseries removed the achievement of Paramartha (the highest goal) is made.

– Sri Swami Yukteswar Giri (1855-1936)

The Paradox

Om Sathguru Shri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

There are often adverse reactions and allegations against a Sathpurusha. Some even work against Him. This adverse attitude of such men is, of course, willed by Him. Such men build faith stronger in the hearts of men who adore the Sathpurusha. They adhere to Him!

The opposites in men help cleanse each other, and ultimately both become qualified for the state of Sath. The Kauravas and Pandavas were so much opposed to each other, but in the end, both groups merged into Shri Krishna.

To cite an example, the wheels of a sugarcane crusher always move in opposite directions. It is this kind of functioning in opposition that gives us the sweet sugarcane juice! To draw water from a well, you have to lower a pail, and then raise it up again.

The pairs of opposites are thus essential.
