Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

One who cultivates the heart’s natural love obtains the guidance of a Guru, and starts his Sadana (Path of spiritual discipline). He becomes a pravartaka, an initiate.

Man, when endowed with the heavenly gift of pure love, naturally becomes disposed to avoid the company of what is Asath and to keep the company of what has been described as Sath.”

    – The Revelation- Sutra6. The Holy Science,

    – Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri (1855-1936 – Disciple of Sri Lahari Mahasaya and Guruji of Sri Yogananda Paramahansa)

By affectionately keeping the company Sath he may be fortunate enough to please one whom may kindly stand to him as his SathGuru or Spiritual Preceptor. By keeping his preceptor’s God-like company there grows an inclination, Pravritti, in the disciple’s heart to save himself from the creation of darkness, Maya, and he becomes Pravartaka, an initiate in the practices of Yama and Niryama, the ascetic forbearances and observances necessary to obtain salvation.

Self-Realization:

God makes the law of karma and if God cannot set aside the law, then the law is greater than God. This cannot be. Generally God does not interfere. He allows the karma to work out. But He may in special case go beyond His law and by His grace free the soul from the bondage of karma. God’s grace comes without deserving it. We cannot get grace by virtue of our so-called merit. Worst sinners have received grace and become pure and glories.

Without initiation, all actions and rituals are fruitless. Without initiation, spiritual perfection cannot be attained. The Guru transmits His own innerself, His Divine Shakthi (Universal Energy or Cosmic Energy or Kundalini Shakthi), and His message directly into the disciple. Only a Guru (Sathpurushas or SathGuru) who has been empowered by the blessings of the Supreme Power can awaken the Kundalini permanently.

Disciple:

Would you briefly describe Kundalini Yoga?

Master:

Kundalini Yoga can not be described briefly because it is such a grand and extensive yoga.

Kundalini Yoga is inspired and directed by Chiti, the same Cosmic Energy that sustains and directs the order of the Whole Universe. This energy moves in a channel at the Central Core of this complex Human Body. It has two aspects: inner and outer. The outer aspects sustain the order of one’s mundane life. The inner aspect lies dormant, but when it awakens it sustains and directs the process of MAHA Yoga, the great yoga. Kundalini Yoga is a totally independent autonomous yoga and completes itself fully without the help of any other yoga. It is a Self – existent and a self-propelled Yoga.

The Kundalini stabilizes and controls all the seventy-two thousand subtle nerves of the human body. When it awakens by the grace of the Guru, it purifies the whole nervous system and makes the body radiant.

It dispels all diseases, purifies all the body centres, and makes itself an abode of divine peace within the heart. All the senses are refined, cleansed, and strengthened. As this process culminates, the Kundalini reaches the Sahasrara, revealing a Divine Brilliance. Sparkling in the middle of this brilliance in the Cerebral Centre is a dazzling BLUE DOT, which the Kundalini enables one to see. Not only that, but by means of this Blue Dot, or Neela Bindhu, a yogi is shown the subtle worlds, all the Gods and Goddesses, and all that can not ordinarily be perceived by the physical senses.

As this process continues, Samadhi occurs spontaneously. The Jiva, the individual soul, is lifted above pleasure and pain. After establishing the aspirant in Supreme Bliss, the Kundalini becomes tranquil.

This Kundalini is the Para Shakthi (Universal Energy) of Para Shiva (Lord of Universe), the transcendent energy of the Supreme, auspicious principle.

Externally it inspires the creation of the world; internally, it inspires the yogic process. By means of the independent, self-sustaining Kundalini, Maha Yoga unfolds automatically. This yoga can also be called Siddha Yoga, the yoga of perfect masters. It is the synthesis of the four Yogas – Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Mantra Yoga, and Laya Yoga-and it is therefore called Maha yoga, the great yoga. It can also be called Chief Yoga. Chiti is the primordial consciousness that is the source and essence of the world in answering your question about Kundalini Yoga; one could fill an entire book. It is a vast subject.

Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

Disciple:

I would like to talk to you about the heart. In terms of my own work as a teacher and my own growth, I want to know what can be done to open the heart. I feel that so many of the schools teach from the head, not from the heart, and I want to work through the heart.

Master:

Meditate. The inner Shakti (Sheathe) should be awakened through meditation. When the inner Shakti becomes awake and opens the heart, you become aware of the exactly what the heart is. There is no point in teaching theoretical knowledge or concepts about it to people. There are many kinds of powers; inside man and when they become active through meditation, you will be able to experience all of them. One of the powers enables you to hear distant sounds, and another reveals the past and the future. You should experience all these through meditation. Meditation is the main thing.

Disciple:

I feel that the heart is the place where all other centers become integrated. I do not want to teach theoretically; I want to teach from the heart because I feel that is the only way to teach.

Master:

For that you should meditate. Through meditation you should be able to get to the place from which the ego arises and into which it subsides. Find the place from which all the different thoughts of the mind originate – that is the Heart.

Disciple: Is there a special meditation that is best for the heart?

Master:

The meditation that you get through initiation is the best because it is the meditation, which arises spontaneously after Kundalini awakening and inner unfolding.

Disciple:

We try to teach trans personal psychology, yet none of us are really to teach. Any guidance that you could give us would be appreciated.

Master:

There is no point in giving one, mere verbal advice. You should meditate; that is the best advice I can give. Many professors come to meet me, and I tell them the same thing. More and more people accept the idea that there is something beyond the mind, and I ask them all to meditate, in order to experience that.

Disciple:

Sometimes we work with people who are very disturbed, and their disturbance reaches a place inside us where we are ourselves disturbed in the same way. I wonder how, when working up to them, one could avoid taking in things that are not good?

Master:

Healers or Therapists sometimes do absorb the negative influences of their patients. In many cases it happens that they start out as therapists and end up as patients. A woman healer came up to me and said, “when I started, I was doing a good job, helping people well… Now however, my arms and legs have begun to ache terribly and are nearly paralyzed. What should I do?”

This is the common complaint of therapists and healers who have come to see me, and this is exactly what happens to me too, when I provide initiation or blessings. It pains me quite a bit, but afterwards I sit quietly in meditation, and through the force of the Divine energy (Universal energy) that is released in high meditation (the Kundalini Shakti-Sahasrara-Meditation), my Guru burns up all those negative energies. This is how I stay fresh.

Therapists and healers should also find a way to burn up the impurities they absorb from their patients. It is not enough to become drunk on your temporary success as a healer. You must think about the future and what may happen to you as a result of your healing work. It is essential for a therapist to be in touch with his inner energy (inner Guru – creator) and to keep himself strong.
