SATHGURU SRI RAJALINGA SWAMIGAL of THIRUVANNAMALAI

SWAMIGAL’S LOVE AND GRACE ON HIS ARDENT DEVOTEE

Shri. Velu, residing in Thiruvannamalai, had known Guruji for the past 6 months. In this short span of time, Shri. Velu’s love for his Swami was so firmly and deeply established, that his relationship and Divine experiences with Swamigal, leave a profound impact on all of us. It brings great rejoicing to all our hearts…

A few months back, when Shri. Velu had visited Swamigal, His Holiness had asked Shri. Velu to sit with Him, and chant Mahaan’s Moola Manthram. After a while when Shri. Velu had been chanting the manthram, the beads of the japa-mala in his hand started to quickly run across his fingers on their own!

It later happened in his own home too, when he was once chanting Mahaan’s manthram…

Recently, in the past month at the time when Guruji was taken ill, Shri. Velu, with his family, had once visited Swami. Guruji, during His illness, had bouts of severe coughing, and was severely short of breath, and barely able to converse. When Shri. Velu was with His Holiness, His cough completely stopped, and Guruji was able to talk to him and his family, for nearly an hour!

Guruji had told him that Velu’s presence made him feel happier and He felt His condition in a better state!

Shri.Velu was Mahaan personified, to have kept our Beloved Guruji in good cheer, during His sickness and ordeal!

Such Devotion and Such Divinity!

Shri. Velu felt the fragrance of Sambrani (Frankincense), all the while, in Guruji and Mahaan’s Presence.

In the days following Swamigal’s Samaadhi, Shri. Velu had been regularly visiting Guruji’s bereaved family, and Swami’s Samaadhi. He was blessed with Swami’s Darshan in the form of a beautiful butterfly, on several occasions.

With such verve, confidence, and sheer joy, he informed us yesterday, that whenever he closes his eyes in prayer, thinking of Guruji, he is blessed with a heart-warming Darshan of His Holiness, in the form of a butterfly, wherever he goes!

He is so inspired by Swami’s showering all His Love and Grace, that he refuses to allow any depressing thought to overcome him.

Blessed is he, who served our Swami, during His last days on earth!

His faith in Guruji shall ever remain an inspiration to all of us….

Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

The Chandogyopanishad lays down that a spiritual aspirant must approach a self- realized Guru in a proper manner. Even when the need to seek a perfect master (Sathpurushas – SathGuru) is accepted, it is no easy matter to recognize whom, among the galaxy of religious personalities, is indeed the perfect one. For, as in all other matters, the fakes who claim realization, which they do not have, are legion.

A typical saint of the Guru – tradition, Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi says,

Guru is all the Gods,”

and addressing those who wished to be accepted as his chelas, he said,

It is not the Guru that makes himself your Guru. It is you who must regard him as your Guru, i.e. place faith in him and meditate on him.”

To those who had accepted Him as the object of their contemplation, He said,

Sai Baba does not mean this body of five and a half feet. He who thinks that Sai Baba is at Shirdi only has not seen Sai Baba at all.”

It may even be said that for most people, the devout study of the life and teaching of a saint is more useful than the immediate presence of a saint. For human nature being what it is, even though a seeker stays with a sage, he comes to focus his attention on the physical frame of the sage than on His state of realization, which is the essence of it all. This is the reason why devotional reading of holy biographies came to enjoin as a form of spiritual endeavour in itself.

Healing the sick and such other miracles are common enough even among saints of a lesser order and the skeptic’s mind is not much touched by the replacement of medicine with faith as a means of cure. There is a realm of miracles, which defies all comprehension and needs the utmost disbelief, verging on dogma and superstition, to brush them aside heedlessly.

Hindu scriptures, and in fact all of world’s scriptures, speak of such miracles as the grace of God that He mercifully bestows on the seekers as a reward for his piety, humility and zeal to serve the suffering people materially and spiritually. Our misfortunes and sufferings often result from the accomplishment of our own desires. There is nothing so small or so apparently indifferent which God does not ordain or permit, even to the fall of a leaf.

Disciple:

Is it possible for a person, even without faith, to awaken his own Kundalini through practice of Kundalini Yoga?

Master:

The Kundalini may awaken, but what will the person do if he is without faith? If he is without understanding, he won’t progress. He will stop half way. However, if the Guru’s Grace awakens the Kundalini, the grace itself will lead the Kundalini on the proper path; faith will come automatically, in due course.

Disciple:

Are there any dangerous in awakening the Kundalini?

Master:

Some people attempt to awakening the Kundalini forcibly through self- effort or by means of Hatha Yoga. In such cases anything can happen; one can even become mad. But when the Kundalini is awakened by the grace of the Guru, it rises spontaneously and transforms the human body, making it divine. Ultimately, it completes its journey and merges into God.

Disciple:

Can Kundalini be awakened accidentally?

Master:

Yes, but only if an ‘accident’ takes place between a Guru and a disciple. When a disciple who is full of devotion meets a Guru who is saturated with Shakthi (Sheathe), the Kundalini is awakened immediately.

Disciple:

Does mantra initiation usually involves some sort of special ritual performed between the Guru and the disciple?

Master:

More important than any ritual is the faith of the person who receives the mantra. One with faith can receive a Siddha’s mantra in any place, at any time, under any circumstances, and that mantra is guaranteed to bear its fruit. A Siddhapurusha’s mantra (Sri Seshadri Swamigal) is no inert one – it’s fully conscious and not bound by time, space, or ritual. Through the Siddha’s grace, it bears fruit immediately. Ordinarily, there is a ritual for mantra initiation, but the main ritual is faith. Where there is no faith, ritual becomes pointless, where there is great faith, ritual becomes unnecessary.

Disciple:

I do not mind giving up greed, lust, and anger, but the positive emotions still attract me.

Master:

To become centered in the Self does not mean that the positive things will be destroyed along with the negative. Love, faith, and happiness will remain in even greater measure than before.

When we affirm our faith in the Guru as a Divinity:

“O! Raghugana, one does not attain this Brahma Gnana by practising asceticism, rituals, religious duties, study of Vedas or through worship of the God’s presiding over water, fire and the sun, but only by DRENCHING ONE’S BODY WITH THE DUST CLINGING TO THE FEET OF EXALTED SOULS!
