Om Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvadikkae

Disciple:

Could you tell me about one of your experiences of the Divine?

Master:

Great divinity lives within man.

When by my Guru’s Grace, I reached the heart centre, (not physical) in meditation I could see the entire cosmos. The heart centre is most wondrous. In that centre I saw and experienced love. I also experienced the centre of knowledge, which is the centre of all arts. From the heart centre I moved up to the centre between the eyes, and that centre would release the most celestial fragrances.

When I reached the cerebral centre-  the highest centre-  I saw the Supreme Light blazing, by a thousand suns. Then I heard the most melodious harmonies in the spaces surrounding the inner sun, and nothing in the outer world can surpass within. I would get into the state of natural Samadhi. In the midst of this light I saw a glorious spectacle – a tiny blue dot – the Blue Pearl.

Man is great, he is sublime, and he is divine. God’s glory lives in him in all its fullness.

Disciple:

Is God is therefore both one and many at the same time?

Master:

Yes, depending on your vantage point. You can see Him as the one, or you can experience Him as the many.

If you look at the sun from the point of view that it is one, you will see it as one. But if you look at the sun’s individual rays, you will see that they are endless. The same is true in relation to God and His Creation.

Disciple:

In every spiritual life a little materialism must fall. I am wondering if the Shakthi would make one a better bricklayer, a better doctor, or a better baker.

Master:

If after the inner awakening, the Shakthi did not enable you to function in your outer life, what would be the point of it? The Shakthi that I am speaking about is not an ordinary energy. It is the energy of Consciousness (Universal Energy), the Divine Creative Energy which creates the Entire Cosmos. The same Shakthi is dormant within us and becomes active through grace after which it is perfectly capable of taking care of our outer lives. In fact, it improves our outer lives immeasurably. With the aid of the inner Shakthi, a doctor can diagnose diseases without the use of many instruments, a mediocre bricklayer can become an expert in laying bricks, and a musician can fight with tremendous vigour, and a baker is able to bake the rays of Shakthi into his bread, making the bread very delectable.

Disciple:

It is useful to visualize the Kundalini ascending, as is recommended by some tantric techniques?

Master:

The Kundalini rises of its own accord, so what is the need for visualizing it? Kundalini is not imaginary. It is a real manifestation. It transcends imagination. Inner experiences, inner Kriyas, and inner yoga actually manifest as direct experience. There is no need to imagine anything.

The Guru Gita says that in the Sahasrara, the thousand-petalled Spiritual centre in the Cerebrum, there is a triangle, and in the middle of that triangle lives GURU – the inner Guru.

That Guru is supremely effulgent. The brilliance of His light equals a thousand suns. The only difference is that the light of the outer Sun is heating, whereas the light of the inner Guru is cooling.

The inner Guru reveals himself to everyone who meditates and gets into higher states of meditation. That Guru exists in the midst of the Divine Light, in the form of a Blue Dot called the Blue Pearl, which vibrates there all the time.

When you receive the message of truth from the Guru within, you become aware that the outer Guru you have been worshipping is no different from the inner Guru.

Disciple:

Can mantra repetition enhance the ascent of Kundalini?

Master:

Mantra is very beneficial because Kundalini loves mantra. The Upanishads describe Her as Kundalini Maha Mantra Para Devatai – “The Supreme Deity, the great mantra”. Mantra is Her life breath.

Disciple:

In meditation, should one concentrate on the Chakras?

Master:

There is no need to concentrate on the Chakras; one should focus the mind on the desired object. All the Chakras are dependent on the inner Self. The Inner Light controls them. Concentration on the light of the inner Self will open the Chakras automatically.
