Om Sathguru Shri Seshadri Swamigal Thiruvaddikae
Swamigal conveyed to Shri. Manicka Swami:
“One should be clean like the fly, strong like the ant,
Wise like the dog and affectionate like Rathi,
Only then can one see the Guru!”
Even though the fly is associated with refuse, it is clean by itself. The ant keeps working day in and day out, without any respite and hence it is strong. Even if the Master cuts its tail or ear, a dog is loyal to him without forgetting that he feeds it once a day; hence it is very wise. A virtuous wife serves her husband with intense love and affection.
Similarly, a good disciple is one, who is physically clean, clean in mind and and in action. He is free from laziness and is active, who does not mind any hurdle which comes as a test and serves his Master happily, and receives the grace of his Master (Guru).
