Mind and Prana arise from the same source and hence they function together. When one of them is controlled, the other gets controlled automatically. Therefore when the mind gets quiescent through dhyana yoga or meditation, the incoming and outgoing breaths are also slowed down. When the mind and prana are quietude together in this manner, life energies are conserved.
